Music Style

You can play any type of style on bass but always have this in mind:


a)The longer the neck, the lower the sound.
    This is the reason why instruments such as ukulele and banjo have a high pitch.


b)Some basses come in 5 and 6 string models, not just 4 which is the number of strings the first basses to be produced came with.
    The more strings, the more lower pitched notes and/or higher pitched notes you can play.


So, if you'd like to play music such as jazz and reggae you may want a 5 string bass. For most styles, you'll be OK with the standard 4-string bass.
